Vibe: Nestled in a large, one-room store with an open floor plan, this thrift store balances the unpretentious charm of a traditional thrift shop with the vibrant allure of luxury fashion. Its setup is welcoming and accessible, making high fashion feel approachable without losing its style, sophistication, and bargain.

Highlights: Great prices. We found practically new heels for only 38 bucks! You can find Oh! Polly, Prada, Kenzo, Dickies, Buck Mason, Alexander Wang, Rebecca Moses, Ted Baker and more designers there.

Why Visit: The eclectic selection ranges from wardrobe staples to high-quality designer pieces, striking a perfect balance between accessibility and luxury. This ethos is reflected in the store’s layout, where the most expensive and exclusive designer items are tastefully displayed on the walls and in elegant accessory cases. This careful curation ensures that every visit feels both inspiring and attainable, without alienating those new to the high fashion scene.

Customer Experience: Though it has the approachable vibe of a typical thrift store, this store stands out with its diligent staff who keep the floor delightful for customers. In some of the isles, it is a squeeze, mostly all products are in either size or color order; both if you’re lucky.

Vibe: This popular thrift spot has a cool, grungy vibe that appeals to both fashion enthusiasts and newcomers. The wavy racks of clothes create a dynamic and visually engaging shopping experience, blending the casual charm of thrift shopping with a unique sense of style. This store offers an exclusive and edgy atmosphere where you can find pieces that reflect personal taste and artistic flair.

Highlights: A good range of everything from Selkie, to Zimmerman. 

Why Visit: This chic boutique features a curated selection of good quality pieces at decent prices (compared to the original price points), with gems that cater to those with a discerning eye for luxury. The array includes not only stylish clothing but also an impressive collection of shoes, accessories, and jewelry, ensuring a complete fashion experience.

Customer Experience: Before you step into this stylish boutique, you’re greeted by a security guard at the front door, reflecting the store’s commitment to a secure and exclusive shopping environment. Medium to larger bags, including those from other stores, are checked, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all patrons. After these you are free to roam around the shop with ease and enjoyment. The Employees are hustling and bustling all around, mainly at the fitting rooms and front register. Their customer approach is both fun, professional, and well versed in the clothes/brands in shop.


American Rebel

Price Point: $$-$$$

Location: 7474 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046

Vibe: Stepping into this expansive, two-floor shop feels like traveling back to the 60s, with its distinctly Americana setup and nostalgic charm. The carefully curated decor and vintage vibes create a unique shopping experience, further enhanced by a stellar music selection that has earned five-star reviews.

Highlights: Not many modern designers to name but the “furs” are the most expensive item in the store.

Why Visit: With festival-ready outfits, archive pieces, and a denim collection that seems like heaven, this fashion destination caters to the style-savvy. The selection, from statement pieces to timeless classics, strikes a balance between informed curation and accessibility, making even those new to high fashion feel welcome and inspired. 

Customer Experience: Navigating through this unexpectedly spacious boutique is a delightful journey, offering more than meets the eye with its expansive layout. The employees looked at ease and this would naturally put you at ease for a calmer experience. Ascending to the boots section upstairs adds an extra layer of excitement to the shopping experience. While confidently showcasing its offerings, the shop maintains an accessible atmosphere, ensuring that even newcomers to high fashion feel at ease exploring its treasures.


Decades

Price Point: $$$$-$$$$$

Location: 8214 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046

Vibe: This boutique has a clean, inviting ambiance designed to effortlessly showcase its array of designer pieces. The neutral and calm atmosphere envelops visitors, creating a welcoming space where luxury and individuality shine. Upstairs, you’ll find a hidden gem: The Archives, a haven for designers and fashion enthusiasts to explore the store’s curated collection of archival pieces.

Highlights: ALAIA, Hermes, Dior, Halston, any designer you can think of!

Why Visit: This boutique not only embodies informed style and confidence in its fashion offerings but also adds a charming touch with its adorable puppy mascot, “B.” If you don’t go to purchase any pieces, go for the education of The Archive.

Customer Experience: Entering this boutique is a deliberate act, requiring guests to ring the doorbell before being greeted by the main monitor. This process underscores the exclusive and attentive atmosphere within. Customer service is paramount, with staff readily available to answer questions and ensure a personalized shopping experience. The shop is also quieter than the normal thrift spots on this list so conversing with the curators is a must.


Shabon

Price Point: $$-$$$$

Location: 8316 Melrose Ave, West Hollywood, CA 90069

Vibe: Nestled in a quaint and cozy setting, this boutique offers a welcoming haven for fashion enthusiasts of all levels, with a vibe that is both informed and accessible. The ample, free parking lot outside adds convenience, inviting visitors to enjoy a stress-free shopping experience. Inside, the shop radiates warmth and tranquility, with natural light highlighting the carefully curated displays. Bonus points for the charming fountain and seating area outside.

Highlights: A heavy focus on Japanese designers such as Commes de Garcon, Kenzo, Yohji Yamamoto but they have other  Louis Vuitton, Balmain, Tiffany’s, Saint Laurent, Emillo Pucci

Why Visit: This boutique showcases a curated selection of designer staples alongside a stunning array of accessories, including scarves, belts, and jewelry. Each piece exudes confidence and sophistication, inviting patrons to explore and express their unique sense of style.

Vibe: Even though it can get a bit crowded, the shop has a special charm, with each section carefully curated by decade and aesthetic. The professional vibe is clear with multiple glass display cases near the entrance, showcasing some of the best pieces. This shop embodies that perfectly, blending a cool, laid-back atmosphere with a sense of luxury and individuality. 

Highlights: Focus is mainly on the items being placed by Aesthetic/Decade. Many bags, shoes, and jewelry treasures to find.

Why Visit: This shop is full of hidden gems, with designer pieces just waiting to be found. You’ll discover everything from affordable designer brands to big names, making it a one-stop shop for archival pieces. This store captures that perfectly, offering a blend of luxury and individuality that’s accessible to everyone, whether you’re a seasoned fashion lover or just starting out. 

Customer Experience: When you walk into the shop, similar to Wasteland, you’re greeted by a friendly security guard who manages the bag check, ensuring a safe shopping experience. The staff is welcoming and attentive, making you feel right at home. The store is clean and well-organized, filled with a great selection of quality items.


American Vintage

Price Point: $$$-$$$$

Location: 8316 Melrose Ave, West Hollywood, CA 90069

Vibe: This boutique really stands out with its classic rocker vibes and decor, making it much more interesting than its competitors up the street. The open floor plan and dividing racks showcase the merchandise beautifully, and there’s even a small upstairs area. Upstairs, you’ll find fitting rooms and some delicate-fabric pieces.

Highlights:  Denim and Leather paradise

Why Visit: Although this boutique has a smaller selection compared to others, the quality of their items is outstanding. They offer a variety of leather pieces, including real motorcycle jackets and pants, along with classic Levi’s jeans. This shop truly embraces that idea, focusing on high-quality, unique items.

Customer Experience: As you walk in, you’re greeted by the friendly face of the cash rep and the inviting space of the first floor. The atmosphere is welcoming, allowing you to freely wander around the store. It’s easy to navigate and find what you’re looking for, making the shopping experience a breeze.
