Although people in the fashion industry know exactly what MAGIC conventions entail, most are out of the loop. MAGIC is a showcase that takes place in Las Vegas, New York, Nashville, and Miami. Each event features three main components:
- MAGIC las Vegas “is not just an event, it’s an entire fashion experience. The largest go-to market event happening twice a year offers a must-attend, high-energy, all-encompassing fashion experience for brands and retailers alike. Home to the most comprehensive selection of trend, young contemporary, and modern sportswear fashion brands across all categories in the industry – MAGIC Las Vegas is the largest, go-to market event of the year.”
- PROJECT at MAGIC is “representing what’s new, now, and next in men’s and women’s contemporary apparel, footwear and accessories, PROJECT at MAGIC is where domestic and international buyers go to be inspired by higher-end brands, find products from culturally relevant mid-market labels, and connect with likeminded industry thought leaders and fashion insiders.”
- SOURCING at MAGIC “is redefining sourcing and buying solutions for the ever-changing fashion industry. Increase discovery, maximize shopping experiences, and find new innovative solutions through thoughtfully organized merchandising and engaging product demonstrations.”
This year marks the 90th anniversary of the MAGIC conventions, celebrating decades of success. The first night kicked off with an exciting and fun performance by none other than 50 Cent himself, and let us tell you, it was a blast. The crowd exudes good vibes, and 50 Cent effortlessly feeds off the energy as the show unfolds flawlessly.

The entire event is presented by Magic’s President, Kelly Helfman (@kellyhelfman), who doesn’t break a sweat while orchestrating the shows. Kelly, along with Chair of the Marketing and Fashion Marketing Department at Woodbury University, Wendy Bendoni, launches the first day with a discussion about style analytics and trends that will take center stage this year, both on the booth floor and from various brands.
Some of the major fashion trends set to dominate stores and style forecasts this year include:
- Palm Royal – Inspired by the new show premiering on March 20th, this trend incorporates the Pantone 2024 Color of the Year, Peach Fuzz, and features a 1969 “Ladies That Lunch” aesthetic.
- Tenniscore – The release of “The Challengers” starring Zendaya ushers in a new sub-genre of athleisure, emphasizing tennis sportswear and bringing a fresh twist to athletic fashion.
- Bows and Coquette – Characterized by light, soft pastels, romance, and, of course, bows, this trend continues to thrive, partly thanks to the influence of “Bridgerton.”
- Dark Romantic – Combining the Dark Academia and Romance trends that have recently emerged, this style presents a neat (and mysterious) package that places the women of The Addams Family at the forefront of the trend.
- Athleisure Reimagined – This much-needed update to the athleisure trend, which gained popularity during the 2020 COVID pandemic, sees fashion houses adding their unique spin with designer athleisure and introducing more colors. #LongLivetheGucciTracksuit

- A Mod, Mod World – This revival brings bold cutouts, less structured dresses, and a playful use of color, modernizing the trend while nodding to its 1960s origins.
- ’80s in Good Form – This trend primarily incorporates pieces of the iconic ’80s fashions and silhouettes, with nothing notably new, but expect to see a return of the cinched waist and shoulder pads..
- Rockabilly – Anticipation for the Amy Winehouse biopic has set the stage for a resurgence of Rockabilly fashion. Expect big hair, bold patterns, and a modern twist on the pin-up style, reminiscent of the impact of Barbie and pink.
- Mob Wife: Look to the likes of the OG Carmelo Soprano for inspiration. Think Elvira Hancock in “Scarface,” Karen Hill in “Goodfellas,” or Rosalyn Rosenfeld in “American Hustle.” What do they all have in common? Big hair. Bouncy, voluminous blowouts anf fur coats are the signature of a mob wife.
This year’s fashion landscape promises a diverse and vibrant array of trends, drawing inspiration from past decades, popular culture, and the current socio-economic climate, ensuring something for every style enthusiast.
The merchandise and freebies at Magic are both creative and artistic. Within the convention, there’s the Retreat Yourself lounge featuring hair and makeup touch-ups, a food and drink bar, hair bow making with KAXI (@kaxi.co), and permanent jewelry (though sadly, we weren’t able to participate, many attendees expressed satisfaction with their bracelets), all presented by Sparkle Bar (@thesparklebar). Additionally, there’s a second Magic hub with a larger bar and free embroidered jackets presented by Large Lemonade. Over at Project, there’s a skatepark/halfpipe, multiple snack and coffee stands, pickleball, another hub for panels, and massages. Outside the Magic hall, there are screen-printed Magic canvas bags where they print them in front of you in real-time. Overall, it’s a brilliant move for business buyers to take a break, network, and enjoy a relaxing moment before continuing their journey to find their products.
